Richmond man identified as Russian River drowning victim

Authorities have identified a drowning victim who was pulled from the Russian River over the weekend as 35-year-old Richmond resident Nelshon Hamilton, according to the Sonoma County sheriff’s office.

Hamilton was last seen Saturday using a rope swing at the Hacienda Bridge before disappearing under the water, officials said. Crews began their search for Hamilton at 5:34 p.m. Using an underwater drone, they located and sent divers to recover his body the next day at around 11:20 a.m., the sheriff’s office said.
