Cedar Rapids man sentenced for armed robbery involving drugs

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – A Cedar Rapids man was sentenced for robbing someone who was selling drugs on Tuesday.

In February 2025, 27-year-old Dequan Jenkins, of Cedar Rapids, pled guilty to one count of interference with commerce by robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon, and using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

Police say Jenkins met with someone to buy fentanyl in June 2024. During the meet up, he took out a gun and robbed the person. He took the fentanyl along with the person’s backpack…
