CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — City leaders in Alice held a celebration for the grand opening of their new desalination plant, the first of its kind in the region to purify brackish groundwater into drinking water. The moment was marked with prayers, blessings and a splash of symbolism.
Reverend Zerr led a blessing over the facility, calling on faith to support the future of the city’s water supply. Alice City Manager Michael Esparza said the project has been a long time coming.
