Jackson Mayor John Horhn has launched a new “Apartment Task Force” to address deteriorating conditions and lapses in accountability at apartment complexes across the city, following high-profile crises at two troubled properties in South Jackson.
Announced Tuesday, July 29, the task force will bring together legal, code enforcement, public officials and housing experts to review property management practices, enforce city and state regulations and respond to tenant complaints. The group will also work with JXN Water and the One Percent Sales Tax Commission, recognizing the connection between quality housing, water reliability and infrastructure.
