PCSSD schools prepare for ‘Bell to Bell, No Cell’ enforcement

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — Following the Arkansas Senate’s passage of the “Bell to Bell, No Cell” Act in February, school districts across the state are gearing up to enforce the new law, which prohibits the use of electronic devices during school hours. The law applies to all public schools and open enrollment charter schools in Arkansas.

Dr. Janice Warren, assistant superintendent of the Pulaski County Special School District (PCSSD), explained the district’s approach: “From the moment they walk into our schools until they leave in the afternoon, there can be no electronic devices.”

To comply with the act, PCSSD is implementing the use of Yondr pouches in its middle schools. “In all four of our middle schools in Pulaski County, we are using what’s called the Yondr pouch,” said Warren. The pouches are locked with a pin and can be unlocked using metal devices on the wall or handheld magnetic unlock devices…
