Rain chances return, dropping temperatures back near normal

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – High pressure and sinking air have kept the stormy conditions away for the last few days. But the heat dome causing the above-average temperatures will shift west on Wednesday, allowing tropical moisture to move into the area through the early weekend.

After a hot and dry stretch with at or near record highs, rain chances return Wednesday through Saturday. Yes, still hot bur lower 90s as opposed to near 100°. Get the umbrellas back as areas of sun and storms return. pic.twitter.com/4rCTYdfg2N

In return, spotty storms will help bring down rain-cooled air and break the heat. Expect more widespread storms late in the evening.
