San Antonio school districts join lawsuit against social media giants over student mental health

More San Antonio school districts are joining a national class-action lawsuit accusing popular social media companies of exposing students to harmful material, straining school resources and fueling a youth mental health crisis.

Trustees at South San Antonio and Edgewood Independent School Districts voted this month to pursue litigation against the owners of Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok and YouTube for harm caused by student social media addiction. They are among over 200 districts nationwide, including dozens in Texas, that have joined the lawsuit filed in a federal court in Northern California.
