ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Two contracts for homeless shelters — totaling more than $18 million — were awarded at the Anchorage Assembly meeting on Tuesday night. The contracts included one existing shelter and one new shelter.
The first contract for a new shelter was awarded to MASH Property Management LLC, owned by former Anchorage Mayor and U.S. Senator Mark Begich. The maximum amount of the contract totals roughly $11 million.
The second contract transferred operations of the already existing shelter on 56th Avenue from Catholic Social Services to operator Henning Inc., which already oversees a number of shelters across the Municipality. The maximum amount for that contract would be roughly $7.1 million…
