James Island man sentenced for assaulting, stalking ex-girlfriend

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A James Island man was sentenced to four years in prison for a 2023 incident where he assaulted and stalked his girlfriend at the time.

Tyler Gage Black pleaded guilty to assault and battery in the first degree and stalking. The Honorable Dale E. Van Slambrook suspended Black’s original eight-year sentence to four years of active incarceration to be followed by five years of probation with counseling.

A permanent restraining order was also put in place, according to the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office…
