Death penalty still possible for father accused of murdering 13-year-old Kei’Mani Latigue

TOLEDO, Ohio — Darnell Jones-Ogletree, the man accused of kidnapping, raping and murdering his 13-year-old daughter, Kei’Mani Latigue, appeared in court Monday. His attorneys are pushing to have the death penalty removed from the case.

For now, the death penalty remains on the table. Defense attorneys have filed a motion to dismiss the capital specifications, but prosecutors have not ruled out pursuing capital punishment.

If the prosecution proceeds with the death penalty, Jones still has the option to waive a jury trial and instead face a panel of three judges…
