After some delays and reroutings, the Amarillo Long John Silver’s long-awaited opening day is still set for 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1. Franchise owner James Bryan said July 29 that all they are waiting on to drop anchor at the 4406 S. Bell St. location is the city of Amarillo to do their inspections.
As of Tuesday, everything is in place and ready to go except for the food orders, which must be made the day before opening for the sake of freshness. If it all goes as planned, the crispy fish and chicken will be passed out like pirate’s gold to eager first customers, starting at 10 a.m. Traffic wise, Bell Street will likely be crowded all the way to Amarillo High School, so people traveling on or near Bell or 45th should drive cautiously.
