Flooding along rivers in eastern Iowa after more heavy rain, closures in low-lying areas

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (Iowa’s News Now) — Heavy rain over the last several weeks has left the ground soggy and saturated across eastern Iowa. Rivers have been running high after cresting this earlier this week, some near or just over minor flood stage.

More rain Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday mornings has added up and will lead to additional rises on area rivers. Portions of the Cedar, Wapsipinicon, English, North Skunk and Iowa rivers will rise later this week into the weekend.

River forecasts will change frequently as additional rain falls (or doesn’t fall) and as water moves downstream. You can see more frequent updates to the forecast at this link.

Closures in low-lying areas are expected in Black Hawk, Linn, Cedar, Jones, Iowa, Keokuk, and Washington counties…
