NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Three new baby capybara pups are now at the Audubon Zoo.
The zoo said they are the children of Turkey and Sequoia, their mother and father, respectively. The pups were able to walk right after they were born, so they are busy exploring their world. The zoo said they are still nursing but have started to nibble grass and other food.
The zoo said capybaras are the world’s largest rodents and are native to South America. They love to swim, although the pups are going to have to grow some more before they are able to swim in the lagoon with their parents. The zoo said they are living and playing in the capybara yard and barn.
People can catch a glimpse of the pups on the zoo’s swamp train…
