CSPD: Stolen vehicle found, leads to armed suspect arrest

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that a stolen vehicle was located in the area of Austin Bluffs Parkway and North Academy Boulevard on Tuesday, July 29, leading to the arrest of an armed suspect.

According to police, the CSPD Motor Vehicle Theft Unit found the stolen green Chevrolet Silverado around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, and through investigation, found that a Glock 9mm handgun was in the glove box. A marked police cruiser tried to stop the Silverado, but it sped off.

Detectives again found the Silverado in the 3400 block of North Academy, near Union Boulevard, and identified that it was occupied by 38-year-old Caleb Kirkland and 22-year-old Raelyn Birthmark, according to CSPD. Officers saw Birthmark and Kirkland walking away from the Silverado and tried to make contact, but Kirkland ran away…
