Man gets 2 years in deadly hit-and-run at California and Chester avenues

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A man who made a drunken confession to an ex-girlfriend, saying he’d left the scene of a crash years earlier that killed a pedestrian, was sentenced Wednesday to two years in prison.

Roman Bernal, 28, pleaded no contest earlier this month to to vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence — a strike offense — and hit-and-run causing death.
