Back to school shopping lines up with South Carolina tax-free weekend

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The start of school is just around the corner, and many people are starting their back-to-school shopping ahead of a big money-saving weekend in the state.

Many kindergarten students and their parents gathered at Midland Park Elementary School Wednesday to meet their teachers. They’re helping families prepare and alleviate some of the anxiety that comes with starting their K-12 journey.

“I remember as a mother myself, the excitement around kindergarten, the anxiety around kindergarten,” Charleston County School District Superintendent Anita Huggins said. “We’re hoping to alleviate some of that today with this open forum and through our countdown to kindergarten series this year.”…
