MUSCOGEE COUNTY, Ga. (WRBL) — It’s getting hot in the Muscogee County jail. The intense heat in the Chattahoochee Valley is having some impact on inmates, according to Sheriff Greg Countryman.
The sheriff said the jail has been having ongoing air conditioning issues in some areas. He added that the jail has notified Columbus city government of the issue and is working to keep inmates from overheating.
As temperatures continue to hit “feels like” readings of more than 100 degrees, the jail is providing cold beverages and fans to inmates. It is also allowing them to enter an open area inside the jail to stay cool…
