Humane World, neighbor speak on alleged dog fighting operation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — The Fort Wayne Police Department and the Humane World for Animals are creating a case against an alleged dog-fighting operation.

On Monday afternoon, around 2 p.m., police began serving three search warrants in northeast and southwest Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne Police Sergeant Jonathan Cutler told WANE 15 over email that the warrants were part of an ongoing investigation the department had been following since February. One man, Trevel Shantae Bell was arrested as a result of the searches and charged with two counts of purchase or possession of an animal for fighting, a level 6 felony.

Humane World for Animals State Director Samantha Chapman, who was helping police collect evidence, said they found 22 American pit-bull terrier puppies and dogs in squalid conditions at two search warrant sites…
