‘It was a calling’ | Family remembers retired Knoxville police officer who was shot twice in the line of duty

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A retired Knoxville Police officer, who had survived being shot twice in the line of duty, has died, according to KPD.

Norman Rickman, 62, died peacefully at his Knoxville home this week, according to his wife, Glenda.

Before Rickman became a police officer, he spent 25 years in the military. He served in the United States Air Force during Desert Storm and would retire with the Air National Guard. Rickman was awarded the title of Airmen of the Year by the Military Airlift Command in 1982…
