Witness to deadly dog attack shares her story

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – There are about 20,000 stray dogs in Memphis, according to Memphis Animal Services (MAS).

Monday morning, police said two pit bulls attacked and killed a man and apparently injured a woman on Melanie Avenue in Parkway Village. An officer who encountered the dogs in a backyard said the animals were standing over a man in an “extremely aggressive manner.” The officer shot both dogs, killing the animals.

MAS told FOX13 that those dogs did not appear to have owners and were not tied to Memphis Animal Services in any way. “We have no prior calls in our system related to those dogs or that address,” a spokesperson for MAS told FOX13…
