Murrells Inlet couple buys high-end bird cages; more with $1.4M fraud scheme funds: DOJ

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. (WPDE) — A Murrells Inlet man was sentenced to federal prison Monday for his involvement in a decades-long, more than $1.4 million embezzlement scheme, according to the United States Department of Justice (DOJ).

Robin Joseph, 64, pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy and aggravated identity theft and received April 25.

He was sentenced to 39 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, six months of which will be home detention by United States District Judge Stephanie A. Gallagher Monday…
