Tharros Place, a nonprofit providing residential services for girls ages 12 to 17 who are survivors of human trafficking, announced recently that it has hired Barbara Davis to serve as its Education Coordinator. In that role, she will provide a culturally responsive instructional program, regularly assess the learning and behavioral needs of students, and provide an environment conducive to students’ intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development.
“Barbara is a dedicated and seasoned professional with an unwavering belief in second chances and healing centered approaches, and she is committed to supporting at-risk youth,” said Julie Wade, Executive Director of Tharros Place. “We are happy to have her as an integral and critical part of our team.”
Prior to joining Tharros Place, Davis worked in juvenile justice for more than 30 years in a variety of roles ranging from probation officer to executive leadership. In addition to her community service, she is also a member of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., a national professional women’s organization committed to serving youth and adults through education, advocacy, and mentorship. Most recently, she was invited by the Annie E. Casey Foundation to serve as a panelist at their national convention, “The Power and Promise of Healing and Restoration,” where she shared her personal reflections on how unaddressed trauma can shape both personal and professional pathways, and how helping others often becomes part of one’s own healing journey…
