Texas Officer Saves Young Child’s Life at Gas Station

(Dallas, Texas) It seems like often we hear about people being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but recently there was an amazing incident that happened here in Texas and it’s all because a law enforcement officer was in the right place at the right time.

How the Emergency Unfolded

According to NBCDFW, Cpl. Lee Higginbotham of the Dallas Veterans Affairs department was running low on fuel and decided to stop at a gas station to fill up. While he was getting some gas he noticed a crowd that began calling for help. It became apparent that a young child was struggling to breathe.

How Cpl. Higginbotham Saved the Child

In those instances every second feels like hours, and Cpl. Higginbotham noticed that the child was getting “weaker by the second.” He went on to admit, “I was panicking a little bit because I couldn’t get the item out, so I did radio our Dallas VA dispatcher.” He also began performing the Heimlich maneuver, doing everything in his power to help this child start breathing normally.
