Spokane County searching for new SCRAPS director, city asks for a say in the decision

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane County is searching for a new director for the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service (SCRAPS) and the City of Spokane is asking to be part of the selection process.

SCRAPS’ former director, Jesse Ferrari, submitted his resignation on July 11 after more than two years of controversy. Spokane City Council sent a letter to county commissioners and the county CEO on Monday requesting to help choose the next director.

The letter says the city intends to keep working with SCRAPS, but as its largest contracting partner, the city wants to be part of picking a new director in a meaningful way…
