More parishes challenge Buffalo Diocese’s settlement payment

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – Four more parishes currently challenging plans by the Buffalo Catholic Diocese are going to court to keep the Diocese from collecting hundreds of thousands of dollars in abuse settlement payments

Attorneys James Myers and John Flaherty are filing a suit on behalf of parishioners of All Saints Church in Lockport, Sacred Heart of Jesus in Bowmansville, Holy Apostles in Jamestown and St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta in Depew.

“They petitioned the diet casting of the clergy in Rome. This is in accordance with Canon Law, which they have the absolute right to do, and they operate on mandates in which they have hundreds of people who signs the mandate authorizing them to act on their behalf, to go to Rome, to have the decision of the bishop overturned in reverse on the merger,” said Flaherty in an interview with WBEN…
