For more than 40 years, this Greensboro staple has been delighting locals with good food and wine

In Greensboro, North Carolina, few restaurants have stood the test of time quite like Pavilion—a beloved local institution that blends Greek tradition, Italian comfort, and over 50 years of family legacy into one welcoming and enduring dining experience.

The story of Pavilion begins in 1953, when Spiro “Steve” Nixon immigrated to the United States from Greece at just 13 years old. The son of a butcher, Steve brought not only a strong work ethic but also a passion for food that would shape the future of his family. After gaining experience in kitchens across New York, he opened his first restaurant, The Flamenco, in Greensboro in 1968. In 1984, he followed up with Pavilion, the restaurant that would carry his family’s name—and culinary vision—through generations.
