Roughly 1,800 Santee Cooper customers were reported without power due to a thunderstorm on Wednesday afternoon.

A thunderstorm with powerful lightning rolled through the Grand Strand mid-day on Wednesday, leading to heavy rain and plentiful power outages. Santee Cooper outage maps showed about 1,800 customers experiencing outages around the Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach areas.
