Lightning struck in Horry County on Wednesday, July 31, hitting a house in Surfside Beach and a shed in the Conway area as a series of thunderstorms rumbled through the region.
Surfside Beach fire officials said firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire in the attic of a three-story dwelling after a lightning strike at 114 B 7th Ave. South Wednesday evening.
