RICHMOND, Va. — Thunderstorms are increasing west of I-95 and tracking eastward. Storms could be severe with strong gusts.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for areas north of Richmond until 8 p.m.
A cold front will keep the chance of storms in the area through the evening hours.
Due to the muggy air, storms will produce very heavy rainfall, and localized poor-drainage flooding is possible. A flood watch is in effect for much of region until 2 a.m., except for locations south of Richmond.
The cold front will be to our southeast on Friday, keeping the chance for a few showers or storms in the area. The best chance for rain will be in southeastern Virginia. It will be cooler and not quite as muggy. Highs will range from the mid 70s far northwest to the lower 80s far south…
