RI ethics change would allow for higher gift value to public officials, inflation cited

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Ethics Commission is considering some changes to the state’s code of ethics concerning gifts.

Currently, public officials can receive gifts worth up to $25 from “interested persons,” but the combined value can’t be more than $75.

The commission’s proposal would double those limits to $50 and $150 citing inflation for the change…
