Downtown Wilmington library closing August 3rd ahead of its move to Project Grace

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – “When one chapter ends……”

Moving day for the downtown branch of the New Hanover County Public Library is fast approaching. It’s closing on Sunday, August 3rd at 5 p.m., to prepare for its big move to Project Grace.

“I’ve walked this walk a million times or more,” said Joan Coco, who’s been working in the library system since she was in the 10th grade. She remembers the rare trip to the Belk Department Store on Chestnut Street before it morphed into the downtown library in the early 1980s…
