A suspect killed in a July 29 hourlong standoff in Hinds County had previously displayed signs with profanity and vulgar messages directed toward the Mississippi Department of Public Safety commissioner and the FBI, MDPS officials confirmed.
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said a 52-year-old white male, later identified as Richard Lowery by the Hinds County coroner, had a warrant out to be transported to a mental facility.
