Widower loses 1973 home he and wife built for Cherry Ln project: ‘An eminent domain thing’

The Cherry Lane extension project will go through land where Steve Gilbert had lived 50 years in a now demolished home.

“It’s an eminent domain thing,” said Gilbert, the widower of Linda Arms Gilbert, the former Murfreesboro City Schools director who died in 2020.

The Murfreesboro government plans to bid out a 30-month construction contract by early 2026 for the five-lane Cherry Lane extension project.
