Surveillance cameras used to determine Matunuck Oyster Bar fire cause. What they found

The latest effort to determine the cause of the fire that destroyed the Matunuck Oyster Bar has failed to result in an answer.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal announced on Wednesday, July 30, that an attempt to retrieve information from the restaurant’s surveillance system proved unsuccessful.

“As part of the investigation, a forensic analysis was conducted on the restaurant’s surveillance camera system. The analysis concluded that no data could be recovered from the hard drive due to the extent of damage caused by the fire. As a result, the cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time and the case will remain open,” the fire marshal’s office said in a statement…
