On Thursday, San Diego police, who are investigating a fatal shooting in Santee over the weekend, released the name of the man who was killed by deputies after he allegedly opened fire on their vehicle.
Michael Redding, 55, died at the scene of the shootout early Sunday evening, according to the San Diego Police Department, which investigates uses of lethal force on the part of local sheriff’s personnel under terms of a countywide agreement designed to prevent conflicts of interest.
The events that led to the deadly law enforcement gunfire began shortly before noon that day, when the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office received a report that Redding was armed with a handgun and threatening people at a home in the 9000 block of Willowgrove Avenue in Santee, SDPD Lt.
