A string of burglaries targeting estate sales has finally culminated in arrests after diligent investigation by Fort Collins Police Services’ (FCPS) Property Crimes Unit, with two Denver men now facing charges. The burglaries, which unfolded over several months, saw residences holding estate sales being singled out for their valuable items listed on auction websites. Detectives honed in on suspects Matthew Lantz and Daniel Clinton, according to a report from the FCPS.
On July 24, FCPS detectives, aided by the Denver Police Department and Denver SWAT, executed a search warrant on the 1000 block of Valentia Street in Denver. The operation led to the recovery of items related to multiple burglary cases. Subsequently, Matthew Lantz was arrested and hit with a slew of charges, including multiple counts of second-degree burglary and theft amounting to over $100,000.
