3 Oregon towns are among the best for offering an ‘80s-style childhood, survey says

The news these days is full of alarming reports about young people suffering from mental health struggles, with several sources blaming social media, omnipresent smart phones and online culture for kids feeling alienated.

But a new survey says that “the idea of a ‘free-range childhood’ is making a quiet comeback,” and that “some towns are leading the charge.”

A local home buyer company called We Buy Houses in Denver decided to do a survey of 3,004 parents, “asking their opinions on where are the best towns for bringing back an ‘80s-style childhood. Think safe streets, community trust, backyard adventures, and a slower pace of life.”…
