On Thursday, in the neighborhood of Roxbury, a routine traffic stop escalated into a significant arrest. Boston Police, in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit, apprehended 37-year-old Detroi Winborne on multiple charges. Winborne, from Brockton, MA, was found in possession of marijuana, a digital scale, packaging materials, and a loaded firearm, according to a statement by the Boston Police Department.
The incident began when officers observed Winborne fail to properly stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Crawford Street and Walnut Avenue. After making a turn without halting, patrol officers decided to closely follow and subsequently pull over the vehicle near 283 Walnut Avenue. Upon review of Winborne’s documentation, it was discovered that his vehicle insurance had been revoked, prompting a further investigation that would ultimately lead to uncover several illicit items.
The officers’ search yielded a sizable bag of marijuana and other bags labeled “White Runtz Cannabis Flower,” alongside materials commonly associated with drug distribution.
