Hundreds of children and families are facing homelessness, living in hotels, storage units, or moving from couch to couch.
A community collaboration set for Saturday, spearheaded by the McKinney-Vento program with the Charleston County School District, is stepping up with a simple message: You are not alone.
A crisis hidden in plain sight
More than 600 students in Charleston County are currently classified as homeless under the federal McKinney-Vento Act. That means they lack a “fixed, regular, and adequate” place to sleep…
