COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – Friday will end our heat streak for a while. Temperatures will start coming down on over the weekend and rain coverage will go up. It will stay unsettled through early next week.
Mostly sunny at first Friday with clouds building during the afternoon. We’ll have one more really hot day with highs in the low to mid 90s. Peak feels like temperatures reach 100 to 105 degrees. Hit-or-miss storms return after 1 PM ET and continue to rumble well into the evening and nighttime. Rain coverage around 40 to maybe 50%.
A chance of rain and storms continues Friday evening. Lows early Saturday will be in the low to mid 70s.
A cold front comes through early on in the weekend and then stalls out to our south. That’s going to give us higher rain coverage and some lower temperatures with a cooler air flow down the Appalachians, especially Sunday and Monday.
Saturday morning looks mostly dry as we go throughout the day areas of heavy rain and storms are likely to set up. Highs in the mid 80s to near 90 degrees…
