Green Hills residents react after teen carjacking spree

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A string of early morning carjackings has shaken neighbors in the Green Hills area, where police say teens targeted drivers in a coordinated and armed crime spree.

Metro police said five teens are believed to be involved in the string of carjackings. It started around 2 a.m. Tuesday. The first carjacking happened at a gas station on Hillsboro Pike, followed by another on Thompson Lane just 40 minutes later. By 3 a.m., a third carjacking was reported near Rep. John Lewis Way. Two more attempted carjackings occurred on Powell Avenue and Platform Way.

Victims reported the teens were armed with pistols and a long gun.

Police said the group used a stolen Toyota Yaris to carry out the crimes. All three stolen vehicles were eventually recovered, and two 16-year-olds were taken into custody on Deford Bailey Avenue. Three others ran off…
