Hot, humid, and more storms

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Parts of the Pee Dee are waking up with fiery thunderstorms early this morning. Storms are moving fast at nearly 30 mph and are expected to exit the area by 7-8 a.m. Partly sunny skies and still a hot and humid day.

High temperatures will be near 90 degrees at the coast and in the mid-90s inland. The feel-like temperatures, as measured by the heat index, will remain in the triple digits, but below the heat advisory criteria. More scattered storms again this afternoon, and like yesterday, storms will pack a punch with extreme downpours and lightning. Rainfall will be excessive and cause localized flooding and ponding on the roads.

Heat advisories likely back tomorrow with the heat index over 105 degrees. Temperatures will remain in the 90s, and storms will provide relief from the heat. A cold front will begin to push through tomorrow afternoon, leading to widespread storms and extreme rainfall. 2-4″ of rain expected for the next 72 hours…
