Rep. Riley calls for public hearings on proposed NYSEG rate hikes

New York State Electric and Gas is responding to a motion filed with the Public Service Commission meant to force the utility company to hold public meetings about proposed rate hikes.

NYSEG says it shares people’s concerns about affordability and the proposed increase is meant to help make long-term upgrades to the power grid.

The company also says it welcomes public comment on its proposal, which the PSC already indicated it would schedule as a regular part of the rate case…
