WILMINGTON, DE — A 19-year-old Wilmington man has been arrested and charged in connection with a carjacking that took place earlier this month on the city’s east side, according to the Wilmington Police Department.
The incident occurred on July 3, 2025, at approximately 7:25 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Townsend Place following reports of a carjacking. Upon arrival, police made contact with the victim and were able to recover the stolen vehicle shortly thereafter. The vehicle had been left unattended when officers located it.
The case was assigned to Detective Brendan Wham of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division. During the course of the investigation, Detective Wham identified Shameiz Johnson, 19, as one of the two suspects allegedly involved in the crime.
