The family who lost their four-month-old infant, Laurelin Esthena De Luna, unexpectedly at a San Antonio-area day care is asking for the public’s help to cover funeral expenses. The child was reported unresponsive on Wednesday, July 30, and died despite live-saving attempts.
First responders were first called to Kid Kountry Early Learning Center on the Southeast Side of Bexar County at around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Bexar County Sheriff’s Office officials. The child wasn’t breathing, and CPR was conducted. However, it was ultimately unsuccessful, and De Luna didn’t make it.
“Laurelin brought light, joy, and love into our lives during their short time on Earth. Every smile, every coo, every tiny moment was a gift we will forever treasure,” the infant’s grandmother, Vanessa De Luna, wrote in a GoFundMe. “Losing such a young soul so unexpectedly has left our family facing not only emotional heartbreak but also unexpected financial burdens.”
The family is looking to raise $11,000 to cover funeral expenses, a memorial for the baby and to help support her parents, Matthew and Alexis De Luna, according to the crowdfunding post. It appears the account has raised more than $7,400 in less than 24 hours…
