Idaho family buys historic Gem State candy company

A confectioner with its origin dating back to 1901 has sold to an Idaho family looking to preserve the company’s sweet traditions.

Idaho Candy Company, which started 124 years ago by T.O. Smith when he began making chocolates in his garage and selling them by going door to door, was recently purchased from the Wagers family, who bought the business in the 1980s, by the Sturdivant family.
