- Virginia Giuffre’s furious family say Ghislaine Maxwell prison move ‘smacks of a cover up’ (irishstar.com)
Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice, has been moved to a lower-security federal prison camp in Texas, sparking outrage from the family of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s accusers. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed the transfer from a Florida facility on Friday, but the reason for the move remains unclear.
Giuffre’s family, along with other Epstein accusers, condemned the transfer as “preferential treatment” for “a pedophile and a criminally charged child sex offender.” In a statement, they expressed “horror and outrage,” emphasizing that Maxwell, convicted of sexually assaulting minors, should not receive leniency. They criticized the lack of notification to victims and described the move to the minimum-security facility as “the justice system failing victims right before our eyes,” suggesting a potential cover-up.
Maxwell is serving a 20-year sentence for aiding Epstein’s abuse of underage girls. The Texas facility, which also houses Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, is characterized by dormitory housing, limited fencing, and a low staff-to-inmate ratio.
This transfer comes amid renewed scrutiny of the Epstein case, fueled by public dissatisfaction with the Justice Department’s decision to withhold certain files. Maxwell recently met with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and may potentially speak with the House Oversight Committee, provided she receives immunity from further prosecution.
