Once again, filmographer and documentarian Stephen Powell, has done a smashing job of dissecting our city’s industrial past, while piecing together our gradual climb back to greatness. In this new video – Buffalo’s Rise and Fall: A City’s Historic Transformation (Part 1) – Stephen takes us places that few have ever been, including to the top of the Buffalo Harbor Lighthouse at Lighthouse Point.
Did you know that visits to the Buffalo Harbor Lighthouse are being encouraged once again? Yes, the site is open, and waterfront explorers are now making their way back, to view the historic lighthouse once again. It is interesting to note that Lighthouse Point is located a short distance from (now open) Wilkeson Pointe, at the northern end of Fuhrmann Boulevard.
Seasonal hours are 4-7 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, 11-5 on Saturdays with tower climbs from noon until 3pm, weather permitting. Phone: (716) 264-1707
A small admissions fee at the gate helps support site carrying costs. There’s also a cute little lighthouse gift shop at the entranceway, selling mugs, t-shirts, etc…
