7th annual Harvester Homecoming Festival draws thousands

Fort Wayne, Ind. (WFFT) – – Harvester Homecoming Founder Ryan DuVall says that Fort Wayne was once the “Heavy-Duty Truck Capital of the World.”

“When they opened the [Fort Wayne] plant in 1923, International Harvester was the number four company in the world, and this was the biggest plant they ever built,” DuVall explains.

The International Harvester plant closed in the 1980’s, but the building remains today as the country’s oldest intact truck plant. This weekend, the property also plays host to the Harvester Homecoming Festival. Longtime employees and retirees from International Harvester and Navistar (now International Motors) join lifelong enthusiasts for the festival’s 7th annual edition.
