MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — BJ’s Wholesale Club officially opened its doors on Friday at the new Beltway Towne Centre along the Carlisle Pike — and while shoppers were quick to see the new building, some are already raising concerns about the long-term traffic impact.
The warehouse-style club chain relocated from its location at 3805 Hartzdale Dr. in Camp Hill to a new plot at 5415 Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg. The site lies adjacent to Exit 3, where PA 581 begins to run concurrent with US Route 11.
The new location is part of a growing development in Hampden Township that will soon include restaurants like Raising Canes, CAVA, and other national retailers. The plaza is sure to bring renewed economic activity to the area — but also raises questions about the capacity of nearby infrastructure…
